Bio

Hi there. My name is Jesse Mann. I’m a music lover and a DJ. Music has been a part of my life since I started playing piano at the age of eight. On my thirteenth birthday I picked up a guitar, and at the age of seventeen, I traded in my guitar for a pair of turntables and haven’t looked back since.

My musical style encompasses all that is soulful and funky, incorporating familiar sounds with obscure forgotten classics and upfront remixes. In a single DJ set I may travel between vintage funk and disco to Afro-Latin grooves, house, techno, hip-hop, and everything in between. Nothing excites me more than to bring together these many different forms of music into one cohesive set.

My DJing career has taken me far and wide over the past 10 or so years, from Paris, Berlin, Vienna and England, to San Francisco, Miami, and Puerto Rico. I’ve played records at a number of well known clubs in NYC including Cielo, Avalon/Limelight, Love, Sullivan Room, and many more. I’ve been lucky to share the stage with a wide range of DJ legends, from Afrika Bambaata to LTJ Bukem, Matthew Dear, the Egyptian Lover, and many more.

I’ve also held a residency at Bembe in Williamsburg since November of 2005, for the acclaimed party Body Music on Sunday nights. There I act as musical curator, promoter, and DJ, booking and playing alongside live bands on a weekly basis. I’ve also held monthly residencies downstairs at APT in Manhattan and at Public Assembly, formerly Galapagos Art Space in Williamsburg.

Major venues played: APT, Cielo, Limelight/Avalon, Love, Sullivan Room, Standard Hotel, Hotel QT, Socialista, Goldbar, Lunatarium, 3rd Ward, Cabaret Sauvage (Paris), Batofar (Paris), Watergate (Berlin), Roxy (Vienna)

Corporate clients: Highwater Group, Nokia, NewVisions, New York-Tokyo, GenArt Film Festival
